Racing: Five out of six athletes win with Fischer
At the Sprint in Drammen (NOR), Marit Björgen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) and Pirjo Muranen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots), in first and third place respectively, were just two women who put their trust in the whole Fischer ski and boots package. On the mens side Emil Joensson (SWE, Fischer), Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) and Andrew Newell (USA, Fischer) even produced another pure Fischer podium.
Already in the first Sprint after her Olympic victory Marit Björgen was unbeatable again. In the final she claimed victory ahead of Aino Kaisa Saarinen (FIN). "I am very happy that I was able to win at home in front of so many Norwegian fans," said the overjoyed winner.
Third place was ensured by Pirjo Muranen who had already skied the third-best time in the qualification. Magdalena Pajala (SWE, Fischer skis and boots) achieved fourth place on her 22nd birthday. Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer), who finished in sixth place after a fall took over the lead in the sprint World Cup.
On the mens side Emil Joensson was definitely the fastest man of the day and stopped the winning series of the Norwegians in Drammen. The winner said happy: "It feels good to win here in Drammen. The crowd was amazing – cheering us all the way." Petter Northug crossed the finishline in second place shortly ahead of Andrew Newell. Despite a fall the young Norwegian Eirik Brandsdal (NOR, Fischer) gained fourth place.
Yuichi Onda (JPN, Fischer skis and boots) and Kalle Lassila (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) who likewise had a fall completed the pure Fischer final in fifth and sixth place respectively.
